Announcing Heart Land Mines Volume! Pre-Order Now!

Here it is! New album cover and my forthcoming solo concept album is called “Heart Land Mines Vol. 1”!

It’s based on a true story from around the mid to late 90s when I drove back and forth across the country between LA, NY and Miami trying to decide where to live and what I was going to do given I had all my stuff in storage and moved out of my then girlfriend’s Santa Monica apartment. I grabbed a suitcase and guitar then just started driving with no particular plan. I wrote songs along the way and now, over 25 years later, you’ll finally be able to hear them!

Here is an early first listen. An album teaser “preview”:

Heart Land Mines features a variety of great musicians including Fernando Perdomo, Matt Dorsey, Joe Deninzon, Durga McBroom, Mark McCrite, Lyle Workman, Alex Cromarty, Tetra Fletch, Derek Cintron and my son Daniel as well as other guests to be announced.

There will be three pre-order versions. A single CD album, a multi-disc deluxe edition with bonus tracks and a surround Blu-Ray and a Super Deluxe Backers Box Set where you get an extra disc of instrumental mixes plus cool swag and your name in the thank yous.

First pre-order is now available for the main CD!

Here’s the pre-order for the 3 Disc Deluxe Edition (2 CDs and a Blu-Ray with surround).

Here’s the last one which is a Limited Edition “Backer’s Box Set” with 4 discs (including the surround Blu-Ray and an extra disc of instrumental mixes and extras) plus all kinds of extra swag including a backstage pass and guest pass sticker, signed postcard and some other items including an album cover key chain (appropriate for a road trip!). This one is higher priced because it’s meant as a Kickstarter-style crowdfunding support item and for your support you get your name in the thank you credits of the liner notes of the album.

Mantra Vega Reunite!

The transatlantic band Mantra Vega co-founded by Heather Findlay and Dave Kerzner have reunited to write and record a new song called “We See You” to raise funds for humanitarian relief in Ukraine.

“We See You” by Mantra Vega features Heather Findlay on lead vocals, Dave Kerzner on keyboards and vocals, Dave Kilminster on lead guitar, Chris Johnson on rhythm electric guitar, Stuart Fletcher on bass & Alex Cromarty on drums.

Artwork by Howard Rankin

The band has also made a “Global Sing-Along Mix” available, where anyone in the world can sing the verses in their own language, or with the wordless anthemic chorus.
“Heather came to me with this great idea of reuniting Mantra Vega to do a song for this global concern regarding the war in the Ukraine. I’m proud to have taken part in it” says Kerzner. “In addition to raising funds to help the people of the Ukraine we also wanted to send love and support to all who are suffering from this crisis through the universal language of music”.

“In a bid to move out of a place of worry and fear watching the situation in Ukraine unfold, the seeds for “We See You” emerged and quickly evolved into a beautiful, uplifting collaboration that carries a message of light and hope to our fellow Humans” says Findlay. “War is sadly deeply ingrained aspect of Human nature and wherever on Earth it occurs, the effects are devastating and far reaching. Serving only as another reminder of the fact we are ultimately one. When they hurt, we hurt”.

‘WE SEE YOU’ will be available from Midnight 00.00 on Friday 6th May exclusively on Bandcamp For a limited time only.

Spreading the Love

In an incentive to help spread the love, Mantra Vega invites fans to share the single artwork created by Howard Rankin from Midnight (00.00 GMT) on Friday 6th May, either as their profile pic, or as a social media post, accompanied by the download links, encouraging their friends to head over to Bandcamp to buy the single.

Why bandcamp?

Bandcamp is a platform which offers fans the ability to pay what they want for the music. As it is a platform which offers hi-resolution audio downloads too, the price per track is usually a little higher and so creates a great fundraising opportunity for charity too.

Why Bandcamp Friday?

Bandcamp Friday currently happens once a month and on this day only, the 10% revenue share Bandcamp usually takes is waived, which in this instance means more funds can be donated to Ukraine.

Dave Kerzner Announces New Progressive Rock Supergroup, “In Continuum”

Monday, March 19th, 2018, Miami, Florida: American musician, songwriter, producer, sound designer, co-founder of the band Sound of Contact and lauded progressive-rock artist Dave Kerzner, has announced the birth of a new progressive rock super-group named “In Continuum”. The band consists of Kerzner at the helm as the main songwriter and keyboardist, sharing lead vocal duties with Gabriel Agudo (Steve Rothery Band / Bad Dreams).

Joining Kerzner and Agudo on the debut album – set for release later in 2018 – are top multi-instrumentalists Matt Dorsey (Sound of Contact) and Randy McStine (Sound of Contact, The Fringe), former Porcupine Tree and Sound of Contact touring guitarist John Wesley, drummers Nick D’Virgilio (Big Big Train, Spock’s Beard) and Derek Cintron along with guitarist Fernando Perdomo from the Dave Kerzner Band. Special guests on the album will include singer Jon Davison (Yes) and guitarist Steve Rothery (Marillion).

“In Continuum will have a similar approach that Alan Parsons Project or King Crimson has had in that it will feature multiple singers and musicians” says Kerzner “Each album will have a cast of players best suited for the material.”

The music of “In Continuum” is described as “sci-fi-themed space rock” and stylistically it’s a cross-over blend of progressive rock and mainstream alt rock.

Kerzner says “My role in Sound of Contact writing lyrics and music for keyboard-driven progressive rock music is similar to Tony Banks’ role in one of my favorite bands, Genesis. I’ve created ‘In Continuum’ as a new vehicle and outlet for that musical side of me to continue while I explore other areas in my solo work”.

In Continuum will be performing on Cruise To The Edge, Feb 4-9, 2019, and at Progstock 2018 in Rahway, NJ in October 2018. More shows and further details regarding the album release will be announced at a later time on http://incontinuumband.com

Dave Kerzner Announces Plans For “New World” Live Album & Concert Video

Dave Kerzner of Sound of Contact has put together a 7 piece band to perform the songs of his acclaimed debut solo album, “New World”. He has launched a new Kickstarter campaign with an aim to independently fund a multi-disc live album on CD and high definition Blu Ray. Kerzner is no stranger to crowd-funding as this is how his studio album was financed.

“When an independent artist such as myself wants to put on a production with star players from around the world, fortunately there are creative ways to make it happen by connecting with the fans and offering exclusive bundles with a one of a kind experience behind the scenes” says Kerzner.

The Dave Kerzner Band consists of New World-guitarist Fernando Perdomo, drummer Derek Cintron, Lorelei and Durga McBroom (Pink Floyd), multi-instrumentalists Randy McStine and Matt Dorsey (Sound of Contact) plus some special guests who will be joining them for their performances on Cruise To The Edge and a soon-to-be-announced show in Los Angeles that will be recorded for the live album.

“Stranded” Music Video Premiered on PROG Magazine Website

Dave Kerzner has premiered his video for Stranded with Prog.

The five-part version of the track appears on the Deluxe Edition of his album New World. The song is nominated in the Anthem category at this year’s Progressive Music Awards.

The video features Pink Floyd backing vocalist Durga McBroom-Hudson alongside Kerzner himself, and uses visual elements created by Christine Leakey.

Kerzner tells Prog: “New World is a cinematic type of concept album. I’ve planned a lot of visual elements to go along with the music, in the form of music videos and also for the upcoming live shows.

“I drew inspiration from movies like Star WarsDune and Capricorn One. It was a thrill for us to shoot this on location in a real desert!”

New World is on sale now in a range of formats. The Dave Kerzner Band, featuring McBroom-Hudson and sister Lorelei, perform on this year’s Cruise To The Edge on November 15-19, with tour dates to be announced soon.

Please vote for Dave Kerzner “Stranded”- Nominated for “Anthem of the Year” by Prog Magazine Awards

Thank you Prog Magazine for nominating my song “Stranded” from my debut solo album “New World” to be voted upon for “Anthem Of The Year” at the 2015 Progressive Music Awards! It truly is an honor to be recognized amongst my peers and musical heroes like Pink Floyd, Steve Hackett, Steven Wilson and so many others.

If you want to support me you can vote for “Dave Kerzner – Stranded” in the “Anthem Of The Year” category here: http://awards.prog.teamrock.com/vote/anthem

You can vote for artists in other categories here: http://www.progmagazine.com/awards

I don’t know how long the voting lasts for so if you’re going to do it then please do it soon! To everyone who has already voted for my song to win this honor, I can’t thank you enough. Awards aren’t the end all be all. But, it’s what it represents that matters. Even being nominated is rewarding. However, if I’m going to fly back to England to attend this award ceremony I want to at least give a little speech to show my gratitude. In other words, I prefer to win! Haha! So… what do you think? Reasonable pitch?
